What are we doing?

At the Center for Active Mobility in Graz, we are passionate about promoting active mobility. Our research and training activities serve to develop concrete solutions and raise awareness of the benefits of active transportation. We are particularly committed to the following goals:

  1. Environmentally friendly mobility: We are committed to sustainable change in mobility behavior by researching and promoting solutions that enable the switch to environmentally friendly means of transport such as cycling, walking and other active forms.

  2. Health promotion: Our efforts are aimed at improving the health of the population. By promoting active mobility, we want to help more people integrate regular physical activity into their everyday lives and thus improve their quality of life.

  3. Reducing traffic congestion: We are committed to reducing traffic congestion by promoting the use of active means of transportation for short distances. This not only contributes to a more efficient flow of traffic, but also reduces congestion and emissions.

  4. Research and innovation: Our commitment to research extends to developing innovative solutions that make it easier for people to switch to active mobility. We rely on advanced findings to bring about positive changes in the mobility landscape.

  5. Education and awareness-raising: We aim to raise awareness of the benefits and opportunities of active mobility through targeted training and educational programs. Our goal is to encourage the population to make conscious choices when it comes to transportation.

Through inter-university research and collaboration, we strive for concrete solutions to facilitate the transition to sustainable forms of mobility. Our mission includes:

  • Research for change: we actively engage in research to develop a deep understanding of the enablers and barriers that influence the acceptance and implementation of active mobility.

  • Developing mobility solutions: Our mission is to develop innovative solutions that make it easier for people to integrate more active means of transportation, such as cycling or walking, into their everyday lives.

  • Raising social awareness: We strive to raise awareness of the benefits of active mobility, both for individual health and for the environment. We want to inspire society to make more active choices in the area of mobility.

  • Inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration: Our mission includes fostering collaboration between different disciplines, end users and practice partners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and potentials of active mobility.
