Active mobility

What is active mobility

Active mobility is a modern term that emphasizes a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by focusing on movement and environmentally friendly means of transportation. In contrast to passive mobility, where people are dependent on motorized means of transport, active mobility promotes physical activity through the use of muscle power and relies on environmentally friendly means of transport such as bicycles, scooters or even walking.

  • One of the most important facets of active mobility is the use of bicycles. Cycling not only offers an efficient and cost-effective means of transportation, but also promotes physical fitness and health. Regular cycling can prevent cardiovascular diseases, improve stamina and reduce stress. In addition, cycling helps to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, which leads to an improved quality of life in urban areas.
  • Another important aspect of active mobility is walking. This simple but effective form of transportation is not only environmentally friendly, but also an excellent way to combine everyday life with exercise. Whether for shopping, on the way to work or during leisure time - walking promotes physical health, strengthens the muscles and improves general well-being.
  • In addition to bicycles and walking, alternative means of transportation such as e-scooters and e-bikes are also gaining popularity. These offer a modern and environmentally friendly way of covering short distances without having to rely on motorized vehicles. The use of electric drives not only makes riding these vehicles easier, but also makes them accessible to different age groups.

Active mobility not only contributes to individual health, but also makes an important contribution to environmental protection and sustainable urban development. Joint initiatives by cities and municipalities to promote cycle paths, pedestrian zones and public transport are decisive steps towards supporting active mobility and increasing the quality of life in urban areas.

Overall, active mobility is more than just a way of getting around - it is a lifestyle that combines health, environmental protection and a sustainable way of life. By focusing on physical activity and choosing environmentally friendly means of transportation, we are not only shaping our own future, but also helping to create an environment worth living in for future generations.
